Little Lamb Birthday Card

Hi everyone!  I hope you all had a good weekend!  It went by quickly, didn't it?  I'm posting a card I made for my sweet little niece who will turn 3 years old in about a week.  It feels like we just celebrated her 2nd birthday!!  Time flies...

My daughter wanted to use the little lamb from Create A Critter and we stamped her face with a cute Peachy Keen stamp from the Critter Faces set.  I just love those faces!  We embossed the fur, added green Stickles to her bows and stitched a bit with a white gel pen.  Then we added a jingle bell to her collar - a bit of green trim I found in my stash.  I think my niece will love to hear the bell when she shakes the card!  :-)

Recipe
Lamb cut from Create A Critter
Scalloped card cut from A Child's Year
Patterned paper from BasicGrey
Green textured cardstock from Bazzill
All other cardstock from Recollections

Making Memories green trim

A Great Escape - Scrapbook Page

Hi everyone!  I hope you're enjoying the weekend!  This is the first one in months that we've had very little planned.  My kids wrapped up their basketball seasons last week and soccer and baseball/softball don't begin for another week or two!  Whoo hoo!

Today I'm posting a page I put together for my oldest son's scrapbook.  He's an athlete...will play ANY sport for hours on end.  It was for him that I made the basketball bookmark a few weeks ago.  But he also LOVES to read.  Well, when I saw that the ladies over at These Are a Few of My Favorite Things are hosting a challenge this week about favorite pastimes, this was the first one that came to mind.  My son, now 11, can be in a conversation with you one minute then have his head in a book mid-sentence.  I think I mentioned that he's been known to read while brushing his teeth and often tries to sneak a book on his lap during meals and at school during lectures.  I'm not complaining....I love to read too and I know that I'm lucky he enjoys it so much.  :-)  I need to find time to read more myself!

The photos are various ones I've taken over the past few years, usually while we were vacationing.  Don't miss the photo of my son's bedside table!!  :-0  My layout is based on a recent sketch at Sketch Inspiration.  It was perfect for all of these photos.  Suzy at Scrap With Suzy used the sketch to make a SUPER adorable little leprechaun layout...be sure to check it out!!  I thought the title "A Great Escape" was appropriate for a page about a love for reading.  :-)  I cut the book from Locker Talk (I'd forgotten about so many of the wonderful images on this cartridge) and the word 'Escape' from Gypsy Wanderings, both with all the layers.  I was excited to find the blue paper with the tiny script in my stash...it too worked so well on this page.  The two small metal brads say "discover" and "dreams".  Simple, but effective!

Recipe
Argyle patterned paper from Momenta "All Through the Year" stack
Blue 'script' patterned paper from My Mind's Eye "everyday tango" stack
All cardstock from Recollections
Book cut from Locker Talk
"Escape" and top note shape cut from Gypsy Wanderings
EK Success puffy black dimensional letters
Recollections dimensionals to pop up the book
Black Creative Memories marker for stitching/doodling/journaling

I'm entering this page into four challenges:
Die Cuttin' Divas: Challenge #6 - Unused and unloved! - Create any project with a cartridge you've never or rarely used and use a cut that you've never used.  I haven't used Locker Talk in ages...and I've never used the book cut.
Lasting Memories: Recipe Time - Use (1) die-cut, (2) brads and (3) layers on your layout.
These Are a Few of My Favorite Things - These Are a Few of My Favorite Pastimes - Create anything that has to do with your favorite pastime.
Wacky Wednesday #31 - Manly Challenge - Create anything, as long as it's for a guy.

Enjoy the weekend!

Sweet Girls - A Spring Layout

Good morning!  I hope the sun is shining wherever you are...it just popped out here!  My kids were so excited Friday...the temps were near 70 degrees (in Massachusetts, in March!!)...and they pulled out shorts to wear while playing basketball in the driveway.  Then, on Saturday morning, the reality of March in New England struck them full on.  It was a mere 36 degrees as we headed out to their final basketball games of the season.  Gotta love the unpredictability!

Today I'm posting a layout of photos from last Easter, in early April.  Looking at my daughter and her little cousin in their sleeveless dresses gives me hope that spring will be here shortly!  If you look closely at the first photo, you'll see that my niece is making such a funny face!!  She had discovered the wonders of peanut butter cups...and was frustrated that she couldn't open up her egg to get at one.  She handed it to my daughter who was apparently taking much too long to open it up...just too funny!  That face is priceless!!

I had fun with this layout...I think the colors are sooo pretty.  I made each flower with two layers cut from Create A Critter.  I punched a circle from the polka dot paper for the center of the first flower and used Glossy Accents to give it some shine.  The center of the second flower was stamped with a Peachy Keen Wide Eyed Kids stamp.  Isn't she cute?  Just about everything, including the bunny border (welded bunnies from Holiday Cakes cartridge) is inked with Cat's Eye chestnut roan chalk ink.  I just love that stuff - I think I'm sensing an addiction!

Recipe
All papers - SEI 'Aunt Gerti's Garden'
White cardstock - Recollections
Flowers from Create A Critter
Bunnies from Holiday Cakes; welded together to form a border with my Gypsy
Title 'Sweet' from Gypsy Wanderings
Circle from George and Basic Shapes
Stickers, file folder tab from SEI 'Aunt Gerti's Garden'
White Gelly Roll pen
Green, brown Creative Memories markers
Cat's Eye chalk ink
Glossy Accents
EK Success dimensionals to pop up flowers, title. bunny border

I'm entering this layout into four challenges:

Winter Snowball Fight Layout

Happy St. Patrick's Day, my friends!  Are you wearing green today?  Or getting pinched?  All three of my boys left for school this morning wearing Celtics jerseys (go Celts!) while my daughter wore a bright lime green tee shirt from the movie "Tangled".  I'm in green too....but I think my husband forgot.  And he's the Irish one!!  :-)

By coincidence, the layout I'm posting today is mostly green too.  I scrapped a couple of pictures I took of my middle son playing in the snow last winter.  He's my trouble-maker (you'd never know it with that cute lil' face, would you?) and no snow goes unthrown with him around.  :-)  The center photo actually shows him about to throw a snowball at me!!  I love how the photos captured the falling snow....and it was falling fast!  I used the Winter Frolic cartridge for the boy, the word art and the tag.  The top layer of the word art is glittered cardstock...so wintery.  I held off journaling until I can find the date of the photos...oops!  My new Peachy Keen 'Wide-Eyed Kids' stamps came in handy for the little guy's smiley face...I'm loving them!

Recipe
Boy, title and tag all from Cricut Winter Frolic
Scalloped square from Cricut A Child's Year (it's a tag; hid the hole with my Gypsy)
Patterned papers - DCWV Holiday stack; BasicGrey Obscure (boy's shirt)
Glittered cardstock - DCWV
Other cardstock - Recollections
Peachy Keen 'Wide-Eyed Kids' stamp set
Green Creative Memories marker; white Gelly Roll pen for stitching/doodling
Ribbon - Michael's
EK Success dimensionals for popping up title, boy and tag

On the Hunt - Easter Layout

Hi everyone!  Where did the weekend go?  We lost an hour with Daylight Savings...but I'm not sure where the other 47 hours went!  I hope you all spent it doing something fun.  :-)  I finished a scrapbook page this weekend...a little here and a little there.  It felt a bit like spring here (yippee!), so I was in the mood to scrap springtime pics.  These are from Easter 2006...my daughter was 2 1/2 years old.  And with her hat, she looks like Marlo Thomas in the intro to "That Girl".  LOL  Remember that?

I kept the colors soft, like those in the pictures.  And I had fun finding a tree to use...there must be dozens of trees on Cricut cartridges!  I finally decided on one from Serenade...and I think the polka dot paper gives it a springy feel too.  I used two different Cuttlebug folders on the tulips, added a bit of bling around the scalloped circle and some lime green stickles on the butterfly.  What do you think?

Recipe
Tree from Cricut Serenade; sized to fit with my Gypsy; cut twice
Tulips from Cricut Simply Charmed
Butterfly from Cricut Create a Critter; cut wings twice and popped up one
Title 'on the' from Cricut Gypsy Font; welded with my Gypsy
Title 'hunt' from Cricut Birthday Bash; welded with my Gypsy
Scalloped circle from Cricut Mini Monograms
Patterned papers - My Mind's Eye 'Bloom & Grow'; Basic Grey 'LilyKate'; SEI 'Chick-a-dee'
Cardstock - Bazzill textured; Recollections
Cuttlebug D'vine Swirls, Herringbone embossing folders
Brown Creative Memories marker, white Gelly Roll pen for stitching/doodling
Stickles
EK Success dimensionals to pop up tree, tulips, butterfly

I'm entering this scrapbook page into four challenges:
Creative Sisters Monday Challenge #3: Think Spring! - Create any spring-themed project.
CropStop Challenge Blog: Challenge #10 - Spring is in the Air! - To celebrate the arrival of spring, show your spring art...lots of butterflies and flowers.
Fantabulous Cricut Challenge Me Monday #50: Tree Time - Create a project using any type of tree.
Scrappy Moms Terrific Tuesday Challenge - B is for Boy/Sugar & Spice - Create any project using the Cricut Lite cartridges B is for Boy or Sugar & Spice, or a similar cut if you don't own either of these.  I don't own any Lite cartridges, so I used Simply Charmed for the tulips which look similar to the tulips on Sugar & Spice.

Enjoy the rest of the weekend!

Let Them Eat Cake! Birthday Scrapbook Page

Yup, it's me again!  Surprised?  Me too!  I wanted to share a scrapbook page I made yesterday.  Yea!  I finished another one!  These pictures were taken on my twins' 1st birthday.  What an occasion!  It had been such a busy year....busier than I could have ever imagined!...but those two little ones just stole my heart!  Awwww!  :-)  I love these pictures...they really show the different personalities of my babies.  My daughter, on the left, loved eating her birthday cake (chocolate, of course!) and really got into it.  See her smile!  My son, on the other hand, looks a bit perplexed because his hands are covered in cake and frosting!  He never enjoyed being messy and to this day needs to be clean.  He's a frequent hand washer and when he was four, he proudly told me, "Mom, I'm very neat and tidy."  Yup, then and now!

Recipe
Patterned paper - DCWV Stack 6
Cardstock - Bazzill textured; Recollections
Scalloped circle from Cricut Mini Monograms
Birthday Cake from Cricut Birthday Bash

St. Patrick's Day Home Decor - Dressed Up Subway Art

Hi everyone!  I hope you're all enjoying your day!  Today I'd like to share with you a bit of home decor.  I've always loved the holiday subway art I've seen posted on various blogs and, since I don't have much decor for St. Patrick's day, I thought I might dress up the St. Patty's subway art I found HERE  at eighteen25.  If you're not familiar with eighteen25, you should stop by their blog.  The blog is written by three sisters who blog about fun stuff....MANY great projects and ideas here!

First, I printed the art at 8 1/2 x 11 and found a white frame for it.  Then I just dressed it up a bit with a couple of Cricut cuts and some ribbon.  Easy peasy!!  My new Peachy Keen wide-eyed kids stamps made their debut on the pot of gold...yea!

Recipe
White 8 1/2 x 11 inch frame
St. Patrick's Day subway art (link above in this post)
Hat from Cricut 'A Child's Year'
Pot of gold from Cricut 'Simply Charmed'
Glitter cardstock on pot - Recollections gemstones
All other cardstock - Recollections
Patterned paper - DCWV Holiday stack
Green polka dot ribbon - Making Memories
Peachy Keen Wide-Eyed Kids stamps
Gold button from stash
White Gelly Roll pen for stitching
Cat's Eye chalk ink

I'm entering this project into four challenge:
Crafting with Cristina: Challenge #18 - St. Patty's theme - Create a St. Patrick's Day project using some green.
Creative Cutter Room: Design Time Thursday - Lucky to Have You - Create a project based on the theme "Lucky to Have You" and incorporate four required elements (a button, the color green, a pot of gold, and a leaf).
My Creative Time's Throwback Thursday - St. Patrick's Day Theme - Using an "older" Cricut cartridge, create a St. Patrick's Day project.

Enjoy the day!
