Mother's Day Card for Two Challenges

Hi everyone!  Once again, it's been a while since I posted...that's what happens when the kids are on school vacation!!  :-)  Anyway, I hope you've all been enjoying the weekend....and I know it's a bit early but Happy Easter!

Today I have a Mother's Day card to share with you.  I made it for my mom who loves flowers and grows beautiful gardens...her thumb is forest green!  The shaped card is from the Birthday Bash cartridge, the flowers are from Pooh and Friends and the sentiment (inside the card) is from Holiday Cakes.  I loved this bouquet of flowers when I came upon it while looking for an image to use on a child's birthday card and knew it would be pretty for Mother's Day.  I cut all layers and cut the flowers twice - once in blue, once in lavendar - to try to duplicate the color of my own hydrangea bushes.  They're a favorite of my mom...unfortunately, they don't grow well in her area but they thrive in my sandy soil.  The flowers are popped up, so is the green oval layer.  I added flat-backed pearls to the flower centers, embossed the card layer with the Swiss Dots folder and added a few white gel pen accents.  Oh, I can't forget all the inking with my favorite chestnut roan chalk ink...it's addictive!

Recipe
Shaped card from Birthday Bash cartridge
Flowers from Disney Pooh and Friends
Ovals from George & Basic Shapes
'Happy Mother's Day' from Holiday Cakes
Patterned paper - BasicGrey Lily Kate
Cardstock - Bazzill Basics, Recollections
Swiss Dots Cuttlebug embossing folder
Recollections flat-backed pearls
White Gelly Roll pen
EK Success dimensionals
Chestnut roan Cat's Eye chalk ink

Bunny Shaped Card - Happy Easter!

Happy Saturday!  It's such a beautiful day here...the sun is shining and the temperatures are in the 50's.  My little ones are at a neighbor's birthday party and my older two are out 'shooting hoops'.  So I snuck down to my craft area to make a quick Easter card.  This one is for my sister-in-law and niece who gave me a wonderful assortment of scrapbooking and card-making items for Christmas.  :-)  I was surprised and thrilled with all the goodies they gave me.  My favorite was the Cricut spatula...who knew that little gem was so useful?  They'll be happy to see that I've put the gifts to good use!

The bunny is from the Birthday Bash cartridge.  I welded her into a simple shaped card (yup, I'm still hooked on these!!) with my Gypsy.  I added a cute Peachy Keen face, a bit of pink sorbet twine for the bow on her ear and a felt flower and rhinestone for her tail.  The sentiment is from the Holiday Cakes cartridge...I'm finding some fun things on this cart!  The sentiment's shadow is brown, but the picture makes it look green...not sure why!  I think she looks pretty festive...you?

Recipe
Bunny from Birthday Bash, cut 2x, flipped and welded with my Gypsy; cut a second time in pp for top layer
'Happy Easter' from Holiday Cakes, base and shadow layers
Patterned paper from ki Memories 'Enchanting' line
Cardstock from Recollections
Peachy Keen 'Critter Faces' stamp
Felt flower from Target's dollar bin
Rhinestone from Joanne's
Pink sorbet twine from The Twinery
Chestnut roan chalk ink for inking edges and stamping face
EK Success dimensionals for popping up sentiment

I'm entering this card into five challenges:

Varoom! Valentine's Day Card for My Parents

Happy Saturday!  I've never been so happy to see a week come to an end.  Terrible weather, school cancellations, the kids stuck inside...thank goodness it's Saturday!

I thought I'd share yet another Valentine's Day card with you all.  I made this one for my mom to give to my dad.  My dad works with cars so I thought a car would be a perfect image on a card for him.  Then I thought I could do two cars...one in black, one in hot pink, with 'Varoom!' to indicate how they still feel about each other after 45 years of marriage.  What do you think?  I think the 'Varoom' is really funny...I hope my dad will get a kick out of it!  :-)  And I love all the shiny, glittery papers...perfect for a Valentine.

Recipe
Patterned paper - My Mind's Eye Bloom & Grow stack
White glitter cardstock - DCWV Winter & Christmas combo glitter mat stack
Black shiny cardstock - Recollections gemstones
Hot pink cardstock - Recollections
Heart and shadows cut from George & Basic Shapes; embossed with Sizzix Scallops & Lines folder
'Varoom' welded and cut with my Gypsy using Gypsy Font
Black ric rac - Michael's
Pink rhinestones - Joann's
White Gelly Roll pen for doodling
Martha Stewart corner rounder
EK Success dimensionals to pop up the cars

I'm entering this card into five challenges:
Always Crafting's Whimsical Wednesday  - Make a Valentine/love-inspired project, incorporating hearts and flowers and at least one Cricut cut.
Cricut Cardz Challenge #60 - Make a Valentine's Day card for a man, using any cartridge and any colors you'd like.
Cooking with Cricut: Shadow Challenge - Complete a new project with a shadow - shadowed letters, embellishments, etc.  I shadowed my heart twice.  :-)
Made by Momo's Tuesday Challenge #21 - Make something with the colors black, white and hot pink; it has to have at least one heart.
More Than Favors: Cricut Cartridge Chaos Challenge #4 - Nifty Fifties - Create a project using the cartridge chosen by the blog's followers, or a similar cartridge if you don't have that one.  This week's cartridge is Nifty Fifties...I don't have that one, so I used a car image from Holiday Cakes which is similar to a car on the Nifty Fifties cartridge.

Have a great weekend!

Big Love - Elephant Valentine's Day Card with Holiday Cakes Cartridge

Happy Monday!  Today I'm sharing a card I made for Stephanie's Whimsical Wednesday challenge at Always Crafting to create a project using a Cricut elephant.  I was very pleased to find an elephant on the Holiday Cakes cartridge which I was lucky enough to receive as a Christmas gift.  I began making this card for my 9 yr-old son, but after I got into it, I thought the colors would be appropriate for my husband.  And it looks like these elephants are in love, doesn't it??  I usually have a difficult time making cards for him...this one just sort of fell into place...phew!  The faux green "ribbon" at the bottom and the "love" word art came from the bottom edge of the My Mind's Eye "be loved" paper...you know, the piece with the company and pattern name that you usually chop off?  Well, it's now part of my card...I just inked the edges...whoo hoo for reusing!  :-)

I must add that I seem to have unintentionally scrap-lifted a bit of Stephanie's elephant card.  I hadn't looked at her posting for a few days...her card must have stayed with me!!  Sorry Stephanie!!  Hope you don't mind!
